Bluffing is part of poker and every player tries to do it at some point, but some with more success than others.
The aim of every poker player that tries to bluff is make their opponents confused or make them think that they have a better hand than they actually have. Bluffing becomes more effective when there are fewer players on the table, as it is easier to trick one player than ten, which is why it is not advisable to bluff when there are more than two players on the table.
To be effective, a player needs to wait for the right moment. For instance, there is no point on trying to bluff bad players, as it is better to wait till they make a mistake and meanwhile try to get as many chips as possible. In the same way, players that have a solid reputation will be more difficultly caught when they bluff as no one will be expecting it from them. That is why; if you are playing for first time with a group of players it would be better to do a few good hands before start bluffing as that would make you look less suspicious later on. Finally, to be more effective, you cannot bluff too often, otherwise if they catch you a few times no one will believe you in the future.
The art of bluffing can be used in both online poker rooms and land based ones, therefore remind those small tricks the next time you are playing poker.
